The Snowball Shrimp was bred in Germany from wild Neocaridina cf. zhangjiajiensis. They started appearing in the hobby between 2005 and 2007. Snowball Shrimp are just as hardy as Cherry Shrimp and breed almost as quickly
Snowball shrimp have a milky translucent white color. Their white body color with even whiter eggs creates a beautiful contrast to the greens and earth tones of planted tanks. Males and females have the same intensity white and the only difference between them is the extremely white saddle of the adult females.
